What personal data does TimeRetain collect?
Website access and error logs. That's it.
These logs are kept for 30 days for security purposes. They include your IP address, when you visited, and with what browser.
Time data stays in your browser by default. That means your stopwatches, tags, descriptions stay on your device and your device only. None of it is sent to any server.
Only if you choose to enable Sync, you—and nobody else, not even TimeRetain—receive and control a 24-word login key. Please keep this key safe. With this key, your data is encrypted before it reaches TimeRetain's servers. If you lose this key, the data on the server is lost forever. There is no recovery process.
What other data does TimeRetain collect?
Product usage statistics. This data is not linked to you as an individual.
These statistics are collected using an internal analytics tool, not through third-party services like Google Analytics. The following is collected to analyze how TimeRetain is used over time:
- Page views
- Rough location (derived from IP address)
- Operating system, browser, and screen size
- Performance metrics (e.g., load times)
- Button interactions (e.g., “Someone started a stopwatch by clicking Start”)
This data is retained for 365 days to analyse usage trends.
Where is TimeRetain hosted?
In Germany using Hetzner Cloud servers. No other third-party services are used to store or process your data.
How can I delete my data?
Visit Data & Sync, scroll down, and select "Delete my Data." This will remove time data from your device, as well as irreversibly delete any encrypted data on TimeRetain's servers.
What happens if this policy changes?
The date above reflects the latest update. You'll be notified in the app in case of impactful changes.
